MAKITA RELEASES NEW COMPACT AND ERGONOMIC SANDER AND POLISHER

New abrasive tool for the LXT® platform gives users multiple features for precision detail work

Makita has released the new 18V LXT® 3" Polisher / 2" Sander (XVP01), featuring a compact and ergonomic design for precision detail work in both polishing and sanding applications.

August 5, 2025, La Mirada, CA – Makita U.S.A., Inc., manufacturer of high-quality professional tools, power equipment, and accessories, has released a compact and ergonomic tool on the LXT® platform for precision detail work in both polishing and sanding applications. The new 18V LXT® 3" Polisher / 2" Sander (XVP01) is ideal for auto detailers with a shop, mobile auto detailers, auto/motorcycle body repair professionals, marine applications, as well as inside auto repair facilities and for use in engine repair shops.

Dual Speeds for More Applications
The Polisher/Sander features a dual speed selector that provides 0-2,800 RPM in Polish Mode and 0-9,500 RPM in Sanding Mode. It features a variable speed trigger with power lock-on that provides added convenience for various sanding/polishing applications.
 
Easy Wheel Changes and Greater Stability
The Polisher/Sader features a spindle lock button for easy wheel changes and a rubberized gear housing to protect delicate surfaces from accidental damage. It also features a side handle that is angled away from the work surface preventing unwanted contact while providing for two hand control.
 
Increased Versatility
The Polisher/Sander features anti-restart protection that is engineered to prevent the motor from starting up when the battery is inserted, while the power switch is locked-on. The wire mesh air vent intake covers are engineered to help prevent pad fibers from entering the motor. It is equipped with 3" polishing backing plate and a 2” sanding backing plate for increased versatility.
 
Convenience Features
Convenience features include an ergonomically designed rubberized T-handle for increased comfort and control. The XVP01 features a lock-off power switch for added user convenience.

The new Polisher/Sander is part of Makita’s expanding LXT® system, the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V Lithium-Ion batteries.
